The tritopatte and tritokreuz are two words I created to describe a design I created in mid-May 2023.
Trito derives from the Greek for one third. The patte and kreuz are from the words, respectively the French and German, that are commonly associated with the shape – before rotating it by ~ 33 degrees.
First public uses of the Tritopatte / Tritokreuz
The magenta coloured icon was first used for a Youtube “shorts” which was part of the “One Video, One Page” concept tests – https://unavideo.com/hello
The concept being to present a single vertical video on a web page with navigation buttons below it. A sort of derivative of the “mobile first” approach to web page design.
