Attropiation About Us<\/h1>\n

It’s accepted good practice for a web site to have an “About Us” page.\u00a0 So here’s one for this site about attropiation.<\/h4>\n

The creator of attropiation is one Chris Davis (male of the species and the author of this site).\u00a0 An Englishman living on the Greek island of Kos (as at 2024).<\/h4>\n

Languages – particularly those of Europe and Scandinavia have always been a source of fascination.<\/h4>\n

I grew up in a period that saw the evolution of the internet, the web (and other protocols running across it), information technology and artificial intelligence.<\/h4>\n

These spawned their own terminologies and iconography.<\/h4>\n

The “#” – the hashtag<\/a> –\u00a0 and the way it spread from a suggestion to widespread use could be said to be the key thing that sparked the idea for creating new words.<\/h4>\n

Combinations of letters (words) and pixels (images) that were not shown as already being recorded on the web.<\/h4>\n

Neologisms already existed. They were in “mainstream” use.<\/h4>\n

But what were they called before they became neologisms?<\/h4>\n

That gave birth to the polyonom and from that came..<\/h4>\n

attropiation.<\/h4>\n
